Goals and Objectives

Ensuring Effective Implementation of the Act

The primary objective of the Commission is to ensure that all provisions of the National Food Security Act, 2013 are properly implemented in Bihar.

Monitoring and Reviewing Food Schemes

To ensure that beneficiaries under the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) receive timely and adequate quantities of quality food grains. To regularly monitor all food security schemes such as the Mid-Day Meal and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS).

Strengthening the Grievance Redressal Mechanism

  • To hear, investigate, and take necessary action on complaints related to entitlements provided under the Food Security Act, 2013.
  • To act as an appellate authority against the decisions of the District Grievance Redressal Officers.

Promoting Transparency and Accountability

  • To provide suggestions to the government to ensure transparency in the food distribution system.
  • To ensure that beneficiaries are fully informed about their rights and the benefits they are entitled to.

Advising the Government

To provide recommendations to the State Government through the Annual Report for ensuring the effective implementation of the National Food Security Act, 2013.
